THE FINE PRINT: As a volunteer transport coordinator, I am dependent on what the senders tell me about our passengers' temperaments, The very nature of rescue transport creates some risk for those who participate in it; even a good-natured dog may find it stressful to be passed from stranger to stranger and cooped up with unfamiliar dogs, and in consequence may act in uncharacteristic ways. Neither I nor anyone associated with this transport can accept liability for any accidents or incidents that may occur during the transport.

URGENT: Wonderful young, smaller Rottweiler on death row.

This shelter is very rescue friendly! Barnesville is around 45 miles South of Downtown ATL north of Macon off Hwy41 10 miles West of I75

SEPRR visited this guy last week while pulling another dog, Blue who is in fostering. He posed, he is friendly, and a beasutiful, nice dog.

"He has a lot of promise, and needs a forever home soon! He will be on the Death Row list for Monday AM August 16th.
Nice male Rottie-Shepherd mix. About 50 pounds and 1.5 years old. Quiet and well behaved, he's people friendly and enjoys attention. Dog friendly, too. View his SLIDESHOW here."

Ga Governors Run Off Race is TOMORROW! VOTE to Save Animals!! Karen Handel Statement on Pet Rescue

Share this announcement via Twitter:
RT @seprr TOMORROW! Vote for GA Candidates who Support Animal Welfare Issues! http://ht.ly/2njou #petrescue #gapolitics
Tomorrow is election day, and an enormous opportunity to ensure the ballot is full of candidates in support companion animal welfare interests.

Since Primary Run-Off elections experience extremely low turn outs, between 5-7%, Animal Advocates have the possibility to Rock the Vote!

If you have not voted in the Primary, you can vote for either party. If you already voted in the Primary, you MUST vote for the candidates available for the party you have already selected during the Primary election.

Of primary interest to those in favor of reforming animal welfare in Georgia, the Republican Party in Georgia is having a Run Off election between Karen Handel and Nathan Deal.

Judging from Deal's record, if he becomes governor of Georgia, little will be done to put a stop to all the killing in Georgia's tax payer funded animal control facilities. His record is at the end of this message.

Specifically: In 2008 Sportsmen and Animal Owner's Voting Alliance gave Representative Deal a grade of 100. This is a pro-hunting, pro-animal agriculture group.

Representative Deal supported the interests of the The Humane Society of the United States only 17 percent in both sessions of Congress in 2007-2008. This is an anti-hunting, anti-agriculture, anti-gun group. This group is supported, by the way, by that bastion of Conservative thought, Rush Limbaugh.

By contrast, Karen Handel CLEARLY supports change, both by her words and her actions. If she is elected Governor, something will actually be accomplished towards ending the brutal existence of our state's companion animals.

SEPRR received this statement directly from Miss Handel:

Karen Handel Statement of Support for Pet Rescue Efforts

I have so much respect and appreciation for those wonderful animal lovers who volunteer and for those who support animal rescue efforts. Because of their extraordinary love for animals and their dedication to the rescue effort, so many of them have been saved and have gone on to enrich the lives of those who have adopted these very special pets.

My husband Steve and I have two wonderful Cavalier King Charles Spaniels named Maggie and Mia. Several years ago we found a wonderful pet named “Katie, “ also a Cavalier for Steve’s mother. We found Katie at the Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue in Atlanta, a wonderful rescue organization that specializes in finding good homes for abandoned Cavaliers. Katie proved to be a wonderful companion and brought so much joy to Steve’s mother.

As I travel throughout the state, I enjoy visiting pet rescue groups and speaking with them about all the good things they are doing and the challenges they face. A few weeks ago, I visited with a great rescue group in Henry County and they had a very sweet ruby cavalier in need of a loving home and I really wanted to bring her to Maggie and Mia. I was happy to learn a few days later that she had indeed found her forever home with a good family – another happy ending thanks to the good people in the pet rescue community.

"Thanks for all you do for animals and those who are able to adopt them as a result of your efforts."

Karen Handel

Nathan Deal's History from gol.com
Deal is listed as a "Defender of Liberty" by the American Conservative Union. He was one of only 31 members of the HofR with a 100% ranking in the 2008 legislative session. Along with Deal, Representatives Broun, Price, and Westmoreland, other Georgia Republicans, are included in that group.

http://www.acuratings.org/2008all.htm#GA

Representative Deal has a 100% rating from the National Right to Life Committee.

Representative Deal supported the interests of Planned Parenthood 0 percent in 2008.

In 2007 NARAL Pro-Choice America gave Representative Deal a grade of 0.

In 2008 Sportsmen and Animal Owner's Voting Alliance gave Representative Deal a grade of 100.

2008 In 2008 National Rifle Association gave Representative Deal a grade of A, in its scorecard for candidates seeking office in 2008.

2007 In 2007 Gun Owners of America gave Representative Deal a rating of A.

2006 Representative Deal supported the interests of the Gun Owners of America 100 percent in 2006.

2008 In 2008 National Taxpayers Union gave Representative Deal a rating of A.

2007-2008 Representative Deal supported the interests of the National Tax Limitation Committee 93 percent in 2007-2008.

http://www.votesmart.org/issue_ratin...p?can_id=26824

These groups rate politicians according to how they voted on specific legislation dealing with their particular issue of interest.

I would say that he has impeccable conservative credentials.

Deal was my older brother's classmate and fraternity brother at Mercer University in the early 1960s. My brother says he is one of the finest men he knows.

RT @seprr Barnesville GA Animal Control URGENTLY needs your help to save the lives of 15 dogs and 7 kitties http://ht.ly/2mpvC #petrescue #gapolitics

Barnesville GA Animal Control needs your help to Save 15 dogs and 6 Cats. One Pregnant, expectant mother dog also needs a quiet place to deliver the pups!

Please contact Sharon via this Facebook Account, "Barnesville Ga Pound Pups" to Pull. or via email at poundpups1@hotmail.com

She will drive the Pulls/Rescues up to Forest Park (Southside of ATL), GA

There are several great animals here. Every last one was gentle, reasonably calm, and appeared easily trainable for a successful, permanent adoption. Many may be killed as early as Monday 8/9/10. Many others will PTS on 8/13.

There is a WONDERFUL Rottweiler. He is maybe 1 yrs old, and literally POSES for the camera! He is on the URGENT List. So post to Rott Rescues to save him!

One of our members pulled the Lab/Hound mix in the photo above. The dog loved the shelter manager so much, he did not want to go into the car! That was a first! The manager, William, really does everything can to make sure the animals under his charge are looked after and handled gently. To adopt this dog, "Blue", email info@sepetrescue.org or contact the rescue agency sponsoring this dog, http://angelsamonguspetrescue.org/

There are a lot of "Eviction-Owner Turn Ins" here, so many are Pure Breeds, and others are house pets that are not "unwanted".

This is a tiny shelter (15 runs) , and ANYTHING we can do to pull and save makes an enormous difference.

There are about 6 or 7 Kitties that are all WONDERFULLY gentle and healthy. 3 Kittens, and 3 matures. These are "instant pets" and simply would make themselves at home on Day One in their Furever Homes.

This is every one of the residents, except one very beautiful blue-eyed Siamese mix with very unusual color....black, white, and seal. My camera battery died before my last animal!
Their last day is August 13, or before. Owner surrenders can go down at any time if space becomes a factor.
Thank you so much.
Sandra
