Saturday, February 27 - Sunday, February 28, 2010
Rossville, GA to Antioch IL & Stoughton, WI
<< and >>
Beaver Dam, KY to Mt. Prospect, IL

ROUTE: GA TN KY IN IL WI (I-24, I-65, I-80, I-94/294)

Please meet Minna, Haydn & Sebastian!!

All 3 of these German Shepherds were saved from "kill" shelters.  Minna and Haydn were picked up as strays, and Sebastian was surrendered by his owner because he was too shy to go hiking or camping, a result of not having been properly socialized.  Let's get them to rescue where they can start healing from their past and find their very own furever homes!

**This transport is FULL. No additional passengers will be allowed, so please don't ask.**

Waycross GA PTS UPDATE (Deadline pushed to Monday, March 1, 2010)

**crossposted on behalf of Okefenokee Humane Society of Waycross GA**

Okefenokee Humane Update posted here: http://bit.ly/cK3L41 #petrescue #ga PTS postponed to Monday. PLS RT! URGENT!

Critical

Do to overcrowding and construction work the Okefenokee Humane Society is facing a desperate situation. We need to reduce our population dramatically by the end of the week or up to thirty dogs will have to be euthanized.

This is an update so far the shelter has had to euthanize 10 dogs that were sick and beyond what medical help the shelter can provide for. The dogs on the following list are safe until Monday, March 1, 2010. Many of you have called and inquired about these dogs but for the moment there is no transport to move the dogs to other locations. We hope something can be setup during the weekend.

We also have a hound with seizures that is at the top of the list. Luke cam in crate trained, house broken, and knowing several commands. We sure that once adopted and time spent on these they will be remembered quickly.

We also have a female that is blind in one eye. She is sweet girl found roaming the streets. We think she is a boxer mix.

We are also currently housing two purebred German Shepherd (brother and sister duo), a female German Short Hair Pointer and one male Weimaraner. We will also have a male Rottweiler up for adoption on Monday.

These are the dogs in most danger:
http://www.okefenokeehumanesociety.org/shortlist

So far only two dog off the list have been saved. Hank the chocolate lab was adopted today and Brownie the pit mix is pending adoption. Our basset hound is also pending adoption. 8 other dogs and 1 cat have been pulled by rescues or adopted by the public. To those of you that have helped out so far thank you.

We have other that we have not posted on this list but can be found on petfinder.com, our facebook ( http://www.facebook.com/pages/Waycross-GA/Okefenokee-Humane-Society/70576273725) and myspace pages.

We have all breed, all colors, and all sexes. We have a large assortment of pit mixes and lab mixes that are in the most danger. Some of our animals have been neutered but most are not.

At least 10 more dogs will have to be PTS on Monday, March 1, 2010 unless someone helps them out. Could that person be you?

If you are a member of the public, wishing to adopt. Please note we can only adopt within State of GA. We do not have the resource to do the necessary background checks or transport of animal out of state.

If you are in love with the animal we suggest contact a local rescue and asking them to pull the dog for you.

If you live in GA please go to our website (http://www.okefenokeehumanesociety.org/forms/Application_Form.pdf) and download the adoption application. After completing the form please email it back to use, so that we can begin the necessary paperwork. Having this before hand makes the process move much faster and smoother.

If you need information on an animal please email us your question quoting both the animal name/id number and location of where you have seen the animal to okefenokeehumanesociety@gmail.com.

If you are a rescue wishing to pull a animal from our facility we will need the following information: Your state license, Adoption policy, vet reference and 501c3 proof.

If you need information on an animal please email us your question quoting both the animal name/id number and location of where you have seen the animal to okefenokeehumanesociety@gmail.com.

Cross Posting is allowed.
