A1082765
(booked in as stray but is most likely an owner surrender) -- absolutely adorable 2 month old female staffie puppy with multiple fractures of both front legs. Was likely hit by a car or perhaps had a door slammed shut on its legs. Amazingly, this brave little puppy can still walk and jump and is incredibly happy despite her horrible injuries. Will need further orthopedic evaluation and likely surgery. She is doing great with lots of TLC and pain meds and needs a loving home.

PARIS - ID#A1082765
My name is Paris and I am an unaltered female, black and white Pit Bull Terrier.
The shelter thinks I am about 2 months old.
I have been at the shelter since Dec 19, 2009.

Here is the update I just received: (1/2)

<<
Happy New Year Everyone:

I thought I'd give everyone an update on the sweet puppy that was pulled today.

With the help of Ric Browde, Paris was pulled out of the shelter this afternoon shortly before it closed. It was noted that she had parvo when she was pulled although she just became symptomatic today at some point.

She was sent to City of Angels Animal Hospital and I am pleased to state that she is doing well.

Paris was given pain-meds and then both legs were straightened and then splinted. They will stay this way for 4-6 weeks with her dressings being changed on a weekly basis.

Tamiflu is being delivered to the hospital at approx. 2am tomorrow morning. (new year's day) and she is expected to pull through with tamiflu as well as supportive care for a few days. Dr. Cohn is wonderful there and says that she was rescued just in time.

She will be available for transfer to my rescue in approx 4-5 days at which time her care will be transferred over to the vet who looks after all the dogs in CNWB's care here in Vancouver . (My vet also sits on my board of directors)

Paris will be coming into my home and on crate rest for about 6 weeks. After this time, she will be going into hydro-therapy rehabilitation where she will stay for awhile till her legs heal and she's good to go. She will then be adopted into a wonderful home where she will go from my own home.

Thank you all so much for your help and positive thoughts for Paris . Anyone wanting to make a donation for her care. (3-4 days in City of Angels is estimated at 2500.00 alone) can do so by going to http://animaladvocatesalliance.org and then clicking on the donate button. Please specify that it is for Paris.

Cheers,

Blackwood, NJ Deaf, female pit mix named Winter seeking rescue
From: Valerie Paster [mailto:valeriep91@yahoo. com]
Sent: Thursday, December 31, 2009 3:53 PM

Hello. My name is Valerie. I work at the Camden County Animal Shelter. I am
seeking a rescue for our beautiful Pit x named Winter. She is deaf, but is
very responsive with hand motions or tapping her. She is a young girl, about
1 year old. She is very smart and energetic. Winter is very friendly with
everyone she meets. She could use some basic leash training, but all in all,
she is a loving girl with a great personality! She seems ok with some dogs,
but no cats for her, please. There's still time to teach her basic manners
and what her boundaries are going to be in her new home. We prefer Winter to
go with older kids and people who are experienced with deaf dogs. Winter
keeps her kennel clean, so we think she is probably house-trained.

Please let me know if you have any room available to help this wonderful
girl! Attached are pictures of her.

Thank you so much,

Valerie

RESCUE: Help Save One urgently needs donations for boarding, vetting and transport of dogs rescued from high kill shelter

PLEASE RE-TWEET: RT @SEPETRESCUE #RESCUE PLZ DONATE TO HELP SAVE ONE FOR DOGS RESCUED FROM HIGH KILL GA SHELTER http://bit.ly/5Er020

This message comes from Marissa Stracaluzi, President, Help Save One, Inc. located in Warwick, RI. (www.helpsaveone.org) They rescue dogs from high kill shelters in the southeast United States, primarily shelters who euthanize using barbaric methods (gassing and heartstick) which cause great pain and suffering to the dogs as they die.

Before Christmas, they cleared out a shelter in Spalding, GA and are still urgently in need of funds for boarding, vetting and transport to homes in the northeast. Please would you donate what you can -- even small amounts are most appreciated -- and pass this message along to other people so that they, too, may have the opportunity to help save these lives.

Spalding Dogs - Please Continue to Support & Help
Please cross post as you see fit:

As many of you know we pulled 11 dogs on Christmas Eve from Spalding with the support of so many. We then pulled an additional 4 (3 of which are puppies) from this same shelter. The costs are MUCH more than anticipated mainly due to transport needing the dogs to be out of the shelter for 2 weeks which incurs an additional 8 days of boarding we did not plan on.

We need to get this wrapped up because the dogs are scheduled to leave and all vetting, transport, and boarding must be paid in full (actually all of it was supposed to be prepaid but only a portion has been so far).

At this point we can not pull anymore dogs until the bills for these kids is taken care of. We do not regret pulling them but we need people to sponsor and help pledge support.

Thank you and the 4 additional dogs have been added to the photos (this is actually on the website but I posted a few below).

LINK TO STORY AND PHOTOS:
http://www.helpsaveone.org/urgent-dogs.html

Cost breakdown:

15 dogs each at $10 per day in boarding – needing 14 days of boarding = $2100

15 dogs vetting (office visit, wellness exam, shots, rabies, health certificates, deworming, grooming, heartguard, and frontline) @ $125 each = $1875

15 dogs transport @ $125 each = $1875 - we use a professional pet transporter for groups this large and from this area.
